National Dance Day
Dancing is a way of expressing an idea or emotion, releasing energy, or simply taking pleasure in the movement itself. In 2010 National Dance Day was created by American Dance Movement co-founder Nigel Lythgoe and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, and was originally created to promote a different form of entertainment as well as physical fitness.
On Saturday, July 30, put on your favorite hip-swaying, toe-tapping tunes, grab a partner or some friends and dance! Interested in trying something new? Follow an online dance tutorial, take lessons at a local studio, or make up your own dance routine your grandchildren or children. It is sure to be fun afternoon full of movement and memories.
