Celebrating Earth Day on April 22

The earth supports us in a variety of ways, which is why we celebrate Earth Day on April 22. It gives us air to breathe, water to drink, and food to eat. It gives us thousands of varieties of plants and the place to make our home.

Every single person on earth, child or adult, can do their part for the environment. From the day you are old enough to turn off a light or television, you become influential on the preservation of electricity and resources. Make it part of your normal daily routine to shut off the power when you are done with something such as a television or radio. Remember to always turn off lights when you leave a room.

In addition to saving electricity, you can learn to save water by doing small things differently in your daily routines. Simple changes like turning off the water when you brush your teeth or taking shorter showers can help save energy and conserve water.
